Louisiana Safe Haven Law

  • A parent may leave a baby up to 60 days old at a designated Safe Haven site.
  • Safe Haven locations include:
    • Hospitals 
    • Fire stations
    • Police stations 
    • Emergency medical service (EMS) providers 
  • No questions are asked, and the parent will not face criminal prosecution for surrendering the baby at an approved Safe Haven sit

 

Louisiana Safe Haven Law

  • A parent may leave a baby up to 60 days old at a designated Safe Haven site.
  • Safe Haven locations include:
    • Hospitals 
    • Fire stations
    • Police stations 
    • Emergency medical service (EMS) providers

  • The infant will receive medical care and then be placed into the custody of the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
